While Givenchy crossed the line into clothing ‘art’ with garments that took up to 4000 person hours to bead and embroider, Chanel’s catwalk show was build around Gossip Girl star Blake Lively, according to Karl Lagerfeld, and it showed.
The clothes at Chanel were a clever mix of casual and chic, combining tissue thin hand-embroidered jackets and vests with tight-legged jeans and ballerina pumps.
There were also beaded mini-dresses worn over leggings or jeans and lots of beige, cream and nude coloured tops layered with long coats and even dresses to create a flowing, Bedouin type effect.
Achieve the look yourself by wearing a cream long-sleeved T-shirt, topped by a pink vest, and then an cosy fleece in a white or cream shade, with a beaded scarf wrapped around your shoulders. White leggings or very light skinny leg jeans can be combined with pushed down white socks inside ballerina pumps to complete the layered effect.
